MTS sufferer (only because I can't have more!)
What makes it so addictive about having fish in aquariums is the beauty and the unique ways of having fish swim around right before your eyes. It is their behaviors and the colors that also catches peoples eyes.
It's very very addictive if you love fishes, it's the proper care that is very important in attaining the fishes. They can last a long time if you know what you are doing.
The fishes, the decorations, the colors of the fishes, the unique behavior between their tankmates is the interesting and beautiful art of having fish in the first place.
Anyways, this is my explanation and I hope that this will help you determine on why it is so addictive. Thanks for asking………………

I know some people are gonna say I shouldn't sell them to Wal-mart but none of the pet stores near here will buy them they will only take them.
They are neons if that helps.
One of them has a broken tail from one of my agressive fish. Will they buy it anyways?
I have five of them.
I sincerely doubt even Walmart will take (not buy) any fish that's obviously injured. They stock fish with the intent to sell them for profit, after all, and no one is going to want to buy a fish that appears unhealthy or injured.
You also want to keep in mind that Walmart's tanks are not well cared for and the people that buy live fish from Walmart are often not well-informed or prepared to care for the fish (you know the kind I mean.. they're the ones buying a small tank kit and $50 worth of fish on the same shopping excursion).
If you want your neons to wind up in a home where they will be taken care of, you should seek out a friend or neighbor with a tropical aquarium who is willing to take them in or just give them to a local pet shop and hope that they are bought by a knowledgeable hobbyist. I can tell you the wholesale price on large neon tetras is around $0.48 per fish if you want to haggle with your local pet store. Maybe if you offer them at a lower price, they'll be more willing to buy them.

I have got a 4 foot tank and i am looking to purchace a filter and heater for it. I wanna buy something that will hopefully last a few years and where the heater is as acreate as can be!!! I will be putting 1-2 turtles in it. Thanks for your time n help!
Charmaine
Visitherm Steath heater. Accurate, dependable, submersable, and most importantly with turtles unbreakable.
Turtles are messy, different filters do different things better. Power filters excell at mechanical filtration, when I was running power filters I ran Aqua Clears. I torture tested these filters in my breeding setup, extended intakes, packed them with floss for mechanical filtration, and never burnt them out.
For bio filtration, canister filters are the best thing short of a sump, and Eheim makes the best canisters. Many aquarists have these running for 20+ years, they are German engineering applied to aquatics. Eheim makes the pumps for the space shuttle, just to give you an idea of how highly regarded this company is.
Visitherm Stealth heater, Aqua clear and Eheim filter, and your turtle tank will run better than you could ever imagine. This is the setup I use for freestanding tanks with messy fish, such as oscars & common plecs.

The Oceanarium in Lisbon, Portugal is an aquarium dedicated to the ocean. It is located in the Parque das Nações, which was the exhibition grounds for the Expo 98.
The building is the work of the North-American architect Peter Chermayeff, resembling an Aircraft carrier, and is built in the pier of an internal sea. It is one of the largest aquariums in the world, and has a large collection of marine species — birds, mammals, fishes, cnidaria and other marine organisms.
The exhibition is arranged around four smaller aquaria, displaying the fauna and flora of the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and of the Antarctic and a large central tank to exhibit species of the open ocean, from sharks and large groupers to Tuna fish and small wrasses. Despite its intention of representing the open ocean, it has been criticised by several scientists for grouping together species that would never meet in nature.
The exhibition aquaria can be viewed from several levels to see underwater and coastal habitats.

High fish tank for discus. (H)117cm (L)61cm (W)38cm. Water volume: Top tank 271 litres / bottom tank 106 litres. The open bottom design allow fish to move from top to bottom tank without restriction.
This tank is built due to breeder prefer very deep water depth …… as they believe that the depth of water is important for the growth of high bodies. The high water depth theory is actually being practised by a lot of Hong Kong breeders and it is a small wonder that we see HK’s discus having extremely high body.
With bigger volume of water chances of water getting foul is much lower. The amnonia level will definitely increase to a higher concentration rapidly with a smaller volume of water.
Massive cleaning is reduced and cleaning is also make simple. The submersible biological filter in used can be easily washed and taken out through the opening outlet at the bottom of the tank. Partial change of water, removing unwanted particles or placing of rocks / plants if require is carried out in the lower tank that include feeding.
SETTING UP AN AQUARIUM
Many of the elements in an aquarium, like the water, rocks, substrate and filtration systems, may consist of living matter like bacterial and algae, or chemical compounds which undergo biological processes and produce by-products that may either harm or benefit your fish.
Therefore, whatever you decide to use in your aquarium setup will have a bearing on how livable the habitat you’ve created for your fish will be, and consequently how happy or miserable they will be.
Before you go about acquiring items for your aquarium, consider their intended purposes, their suitability for your setup and the possible impact they might have on the aquarium’s ecosystem.
The general rule is that the bigger is better. The bigger tank holds a greater volume of water and provides more living space for your fish. But what’s is important is that in the event of any deterioration in the water parameters, the resulting impact will be more dilute and there is a better chance of detecting problems that may follow.
LOOK
A tall, narrow tank looks more dramatic. But, cleaning it if this tank is upright with rocks and plant at the bottom is a problem.
So the tall and narrow OPEN BOTTOM tank will make removing of dirt and cleaning more easily through the opening outlet.
I welcome comments or ideas so as to further improve my aquarium. THANK YOU. For more video search for FISHFREEDOM. My email: hsk_7@Hotmail.com or call 98584206 Ho (SINGAPORE)
