Two of my fish have since passed away leaving me with 5 beautiful healthy and always hungry fancy goldfish. A 38 gallon should have no more than three fancy goldfish in it. The cloudy water could be from overstocking.

gold fish are can produce high ammonia levels, that can cause cloudy water. If you still have alot of fish in that tank then your fish waste load my be a little to much for your filter to handle. Try using zeolite crystals if you are not doing so

    First of all, what …
First of all, what kind of goldfish is the other one? Koi, common goldfish, and commets are faster than fancy goldfish and shouldn’t be in the same tank because the fancy goldfish can’t compete for food. Secondly, that’s too many fish for such a small tank. Especially for koi, which get to be really big. You need a much bigger tank.

    Yes, you do have …
Yes, you do have too many fish. They need at least 10 gallons per fish. As for the water cloudiness, it should cycle through after a while. If you’re worried about the chemical levels, take a water sample (about 1 cup) to a pet store that does free water testing (PetSmart and PetCo do them for free)

    The cloudy water …
The cloudy water could be caused if you didn’t let your tank cycle before putting fish in. I didn’t know what a tank cycle was until about two months ago.

Very nice goldfish I just started keeping again after many years.I find the cloudy water problem comes from not powerfull anuff filters.I have a simple 10 gallon with two Koi and one goldfish.Soon I will get a 100 or 200 gallon tank and start collecting the real fancy type. But the filter is averry thing I’m gonna make one myself.Your fish look very healthy.

    Hello and thanks …
Hello and thanks for viewing my video. I just have a few basic question.
1)do i have too many fish in this 38gal tank. right now they seem to be fine with each other even though when we first put Black Pearl(black oranda) in Black Velvet(black moor) chased her around for 2days. I think thats when we figure out Pearl was a girl.2)Feeding. how often should i feed this many fish. i cut down on the feeding in the last couple of days and it seems to be clearing up the water.
