Scientists have studied patterns of behaviour in sharks, seals and fish shoals and have discovered a ‘Sea super highway’ far out in the Pacific Ocean. Amazing wildlife photography from the BBC.

Rotifera are tiny multicellular animals that are an amazingly important part of the food chain in most aquatic environments. They are the stepping stone in that food chain between bacteria and tiny algae particles and larger creatures, like insect larvae or filter feeders like ducks. Even being so small, they have eyes, a complete digestive system, and even a brain consisting of fifteen cells. Without these amazingly tiny wonders, the ecology webs of the world would collapse.

Extremely intelligent, this octopus is getting enrichment trying to get shrimp out of plastic jar with small holes drilled in sides. Halfway through, the tentacles are visible inside the jar. Water surface is on left side.
Enrichment, regarding animals at zoos and aquariums, includes anything that keepers do or add into an animal’s enclosure that is new or different than usual, even including scents.
